We went to a Simchat Torah party at our synagogue for families tonight. Max and Asher had so much fun dancing and singing. Asher was particularly interested in learning more about the Torah and asked and answered many questions correctly. The only question he got wrong was “what is the Torah made out of”, he guessed “Tiger skin”.🐅 ha! He than had a 15 minute philosophical conversation with the Rabbi about whether God was real and if he created our world. Asher spoke a lot about the solar system and how he believes it was created and how he wasn’t so sure God had anything to do with it. Rabbi Rachel told him what she believed and Asher was very interested. They concluded the conversation with how it is cool that everyone can believe what they want, how Judaism gives us a foundation for our lives and how being Jewish is super cool and ended with a fist bump. 👊 I was in awe that 1. Asher is so introspective and such a big thinker for an 8 year old
2. How incredible our Rabbi is and that she took the time and was open enough to have that conversation 3. How brave Asher is!
