Subject: Personal Update for Asher

Kara and Brian,

Asher continues to be a joy to have in class! He is very self-assured and knows what he likes and where he is comfortable. Asher is also very observant and particular about doing work "correctly" and likes things to be "just so". He is happily building friendships and usually explore social activities outside on the playground or before class in the morning.

During class, Asher is very attentive and readily participates. He is happy to share stories and contribute to discussions and is also content to "wait his turn" (as long as he knows his turn is coming). Asher is vocal with his interests and clear about what he likes. Occasionally we do work on letting some things go and we can't always get what we want…for example Asher is very fixed on sitting in a "big chair" duirng lunch or snack in the kitchen. Although we would like to honor this desire….sometimes there is only a "smaller chair" available and it would not be condusive to move another child out of a chair to meet this desire. It is ok, of course, to have prefrences and we are also working on "going with the flow" and understanding that things are not always going to work out how we imagine. Asher is clear to vocalize when he is upset (and has been quite distrout about the chairs) but I have also seen him "let go" and accept that the smaller chairs will just have to work sometimes.

During social times (outside and before class) Asher is happy to join in and interact with friends. During indpendent work times or class, Asher is more focused on work, completing work "correctly" and doesn't usually socialize at this time. We are also working on "waiting our turn". Sometimes Asher can "hover" over a friend and make suggestions to them while they are working…sometimes his friends don't mind but sometimes they request "space".

Asher has such a happy spirit. He is generally in a good mood and has a great smile! Today while Victoria and Asher joined school, Victoria lit up when she saw Asher and exclaimed she was so happy to see him! I know that outside, Asher also has a great time running and playing with Hudson, Presley, Jasper and Simon, and I also know he is fond of Thea and Victoria.

Please feel free to send back any feedback or insight!

All the best,

-Jenny
