Subject: Asher's first day and Welcome!

Kara and Brian,

Happy first day of school! We experienced a lovely time as a class in the Middle Group today. Asher was very talkative, added great insight to our story about going to school "When mommy and daddy go to work". He was very comfortable with his peers (Presley) asking for help completing shelf work and then later offering help to another classmate (Thea).

Asher was eager and interested to complete shelf work and  had a busy/productive "independent work time" at the end of class. He also enjoyed decorating his name and requested extra time at the table to add more details/decorations. I can see he is interested in art/drawing and explored our drawing board also.

I look forward to getting to know Asher and your family this school year! Please feel free to get in touch with me via e mail with any questions/ input etc.
In a few weeks you will have access to PortfolioMyDay.com where you will see our "Daily Teacher Feedback" – an outline of our work in class and photos from the day.
This is today's feedback::

Middle Group:

Today Presley, Victoria, Hudson, Leo, Asher, Thea & Teacher Jenny…

-Happy first day of school!
--We had a lovely time in the Middle Group today. We got to know each other, explored our classroom and enjoyed first-day-activities.
--At 9:30 the whole school met in the main room (13 students today) and the teachers welcomed their classes with a song "I'm so glad that ____ is here today!" Then we parted ways and went to our own classrooms.
--Once in the middle group we gathered at our green carpet and I introduced parts of the class and our daily routine at circle. We took turns with "Steve" the dinosaur pointing stick to point to letters of our names- We explored the schedule and enjoyed a story "When mommy and daddy go to work" Then (by request) we played a mini game of catch at the carpet to learn each other's names.
--After our circle we got up as a class and explored different parts of the classroom.
--Then we met at the table to decorate our names
--Last we experienced our first "independent work time" – We were busy happy and social at this time :- )
--What a wonderful first day! It was so nice to meet our new friends Asher and Hudson and so nice to see Leo, Thea, Presley and Victoria after summer vacation!

Questions: Who is “Steve” (the pointing stick)- what did you point to? What color(s) did you choose to decorate your name?

PS: I am happy to CC Brian on all e mails also but I do not have his e mail.

All the best,

Teacher Jenny

1st day of preschool!!

Despite the yucky weather we walked to school. The walk is about 8 minutes (with Asher) and filled with secret stairways and amazing views!

Asher was SOOO excited! As soon as he walked in he found Teacher Jenny and got to work. He wouldn't even say goodbye to me or wave to me from the goodbye window. Definitely a good start to the year.
